Content policy
Your block is yours, but it lives on a public page with our name on it. This is what can go on it.
What you can publish
What you can add depends on how many seconds you own:
- 1 to 4 seconds — display name, avatar, social handle
- 5 to 9 seconds — the above, plus a short message
- 10 or more seconds — the above, plus an image and a clickable link
What is not allowed
- Anything illegal, or anything that promotes or helps with illegal activity
- Sexual or sexually suggestive content
- Any content that sexualizes or endangers minors — this is reported to the authorities, not just removed
- Malware, phishing, or links to harmful downloads
- Scams, fake giveaways, financial schemes, or deceptive offers
- Impersonating another person, brand, or organization
- Hate speech, harassment, or content attacking people based on who they are
- Threats or incitement to violence
- Private personal information about anyone, including yourself or others — no addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers, or documents
- Content that clearly infringes someone else's copyright or trademark
- Graphic violence or shock content
- Anything else that creates serious legal or operational risk for this project
How we review
Text goes live when you publish it. Images are reviewed by a human before they appear. That usually takes less than a day, but may take longer.
We may also review or remove content after it's live, including on the basis of reports from other people.
What happens if content breaks the rules
We will remove or hide it. Depending on how serious it is, we may also block you from publishing again, and in some cases report it to the authorities.
Content removed for a policy violation is not refunded. Your seconds remain claimed but the block will display nothing.
If you think we got it wrong, write to us and we'll take another look. We're a small operation and we'd rather fix a mistake than defend one.
Reporting something
If you see a block that breaks these rules, or content that involves you and shouldn't be there, write to hello@themillionseconds.com with the second number. We take reports about minors, private information, and impersonation as urgent.
Copyright complaints
If you own the rights to something published here without your permission, email us with the second number, a description of the work, and confirmation that you hold the rights. We will remove infringing content promptly.
